Malachite
Malachite is a common secondary mineral. It was formerly called rock foliage. The name of the mineral comes from the Greek word malache denoting mallow and deep green color. Since ancient times, it has been used as a jewelry stone and for decorative purposes. It occurs in the presence of copper sulphides, which are formed by conversion. It has a green color with shades from light green to black-green. It is most often powdery, earthy, layered or occurs in renal and stalactite aggregates.
