Hubnerite
Hübnerite is a manganese tungstate, MnWO4, a member of the tungsten series. It is named after the German mineralogist and metallurgist Adolf Hübner. It occurs in greisen and quartz veins on tin deposits together with cassiterite, also in pegmatites. It occurs in elongated crystals, acicular crystals or scaly and stalked aggregates. It is brownish red to brownish black. We are in Krásno and Horní Slavkov, in Cínovec and Krupka. Up to 25 cm large crystals of hübnerite come from Pasto Bueno in Peru. Other important sites are in China, Bolivia, Brazil, the USA and Russia.
