Titanite

Titanite was first described by Klaproth in 1795, the chemical formula CaTiSiO5. Titanite is a monoclinic mineral. It was named after the element it contains - Titan. The original name of the titanite spheres (meaning the wedge, which is the shape in which titanite occurs most often) is still used in jewelry for machined crystals. Titanite most often forms prismatic and tabular (according to {221}) crystals. Grain, massive and radial aggregates.
