Stibnite

This is a classic ore specimen of Stibnite from Slovakia, from Kremnica. This is a specimen that comes from older collections, probably collections from the 80s of the 20th century. Stibnite consists of steel gray, metallic shiny, thick needle-like, elongated crystals that reach a size of up to 2,7 cm and grow into each other.

Stibnite

Stibnite comes from the Greek word Stibi. was named in 1430 by Basil Valentine. Stibnite is formed on hydrothermal deposits. Sometimes it is also on metasomatic deposits in limestone and granite. They most often form stalked to radial aggregates. Sometimes it is also grainy. The color is steel gray, lead to black, on the surface it turns blue. Metallic shiny.
