Dioptase

Dioptas was named in 1797 by Hauy from the Greek for "through" and "to see" in allusion to the visibility of internal cleavage planes. Dioptase forms short-prismatic crystals, more often in the form of granular aggregates. This mineral is green (emerald or turquoise green). It is a transparent or translucent mineral with a glass luster.
