Crocoite
The name crocoite comes from the Greek κρόκος "crocon" = saffron. Crocoite is a relatively rare mineral, but very popular and valued among mineral collectors for its aesthetic qualities. It is deep red, occurs in the form of columnar to acicular longitudinally grooved crystals, it also forms crusts. It is very fragile, translucent, shiny. It is formed by ventilation of galena in an environment of chromium-rich igneous rocks.
