Aquamarine with cassiterite & muscovite

Very nice specimen of aquamarine, cassiterite and muscovite originating from China, Pingwu, Xuebaoding Mount has size 19,2 x 10,2 x 10 cm. Size and quality is unusual for recent. The specimen was find in 2014. The specimen is not etched, not glued. Aquamarine consists of very slightly green-blue, glassy shiny, translucent to transparent, perfectly finished crystals reaching a size of up to 30 mm, which grow through each other and grow into leaf-like aggregates of muscovite.

Aquamarine

The name beryl comes from the Greek beryllos, which is a designation for gems blue-green like sea water. Chemically, it is a beryllium-aluminum silicate, Be3Al2 (Si6O18). Beryl is known mainly for its gemstone varieties such as emerald, aquamarine, golden beryl, goshenite and morganite. The colors of beryl are from colorless, white, green, yellow-green, green-blue, pink to red. It occurs mainly in pegmatites. The blue type of beryl is called Aquamarine.
